happy heart day!

our valentines day was fun, but different. we had lunch at my moms house like every year, but minus kacy, jd, and tyler. we missed them a ton! but the other vanderveers came over to help keep our table full.
max loves spaghetti and got a belly full from g

andy had a total valentines make-over...he changed his head to a ball of flowers...lovely!

max's valentine gift from g and pop...it sings wild thing and dances...he loves it!

time for dessert...yummy chocolate and red velvet cake.
hope everyone got to celebrate with someone they love!

date 2 of 12

we celebrated our 2nd month of dates and valentines day on saturday night.
our 1st stop was dinner at edohana habachi in grapevine. joey has wanted to go to a habachi place for quite sometime so i decided to surprise him with it. it was fun and delicious!

after dinner, we headed to grapevine mills to go ice skating. it was super cold inside (what was i expecting!?!) and there were a few show-offs but despite that, we had a good time. joey fell twice (and i never fell!-despite what it looks like in the pictures below) but one of the times was because he was trying to avoid a collision with an out of control 8 year old!

after skating, we headed to la madeline for some hot chocolate and dessert...it was a great 2nd date!

snow days

who would of thought that Texas could look like Colorado?!?
when joey got up for work on thurs i happened to look outside and to my surprise there was already about 3 inches of snow on the ground. joey still had to go to work but we knew there was a chance that he would get off early and sure enough he did. max and i waited for joey to get home before heading out to play in the snow.

max did okay for about 30 min but then he started to get cold...it was very frustrating for him not to be able to walk around...the snow was up to his waist! joey made him a little "snow chair" to sit in.

max liked helping dad pat the snow to form our snowman.

haslet had a reported 12-14 inches of snow

just hangin' out

a few weekends ago we went to the mall playground with our cousins! what a fun time! this is for my aunt kacy and uncle jd...i miss you and i love you!

my 1st roller coaster

tysen, do you want to ride with max?
ok, maybe not like that!

that's better (and more fun)!

love instead of guilt

from crazy love by francis chan:

"...when we love God, we naturally run to Him. Jesus didn't command us to have a regular time with Him each day. Rather, He tells us to 'love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind'...The results are intimate prayer and study of His Word. Our motivation changes from guilt to love."

what a refreshing reminder...so many days, it is a struggle to have a "quiet time"...but if I love my Lord with the same fervor that I love max or joey, how could i not want to spend time with Him? how could I not show Him my love in this way?

dates 1 of 12

on saturday night, joey and i kicked off our 12 dates.... we wanted to try ferre in sundance square, but when we walked in at about 6:15pm, we were told that they would have no tables until after the 8pm.
boo :(
but it actually worked out great. instead, we went to simply fondue and had drinks (well, i had a glass of wine) and appetizers at the bar.

after dinner, we went to the Schakolad Chocolate Factory to get some dessert.
here you can make your own custom box of chocolates where you get to pick which ones go in the box....i love this idea bc no longer do you get stuck with 1/2 the chocolates in your box being gross...and at our house, with finger prints in them to see what kind they are...they can all be yummy! and another great thing was this... ummm...that's right....twilight chocolates! i laughed so hard when i saw these...i mean seriously. i am a fan of twilight but does this not seem a little extreme :)
with dessert hidden well in my purse we headed to the bass hall for...

it was a great musical even if the story was a bit different from the book/movie. and the audience participation kept us amused...

psaghetti

max loves spaghetti! (and we love bath time afterward!)
