fun in the flowers

yesterday, we enjoyed the beautiful weather at the dallas arboretum with our friends luke and andrea.... luke is so sweet with max

the boys had so much fun running around together, and of course us moms got in a few short conversations in between chasing the little men around...God has truly blessed us with these friends!

it may look like i want to pick this flower, but i am really hitting it! do you like my shirt?

my mom and dad got it for my cousin when they went to europe 4 years ago.
my mom took a picture of me just like this last year, but of course, now i'm a big boy!

this date was full of fun and food!

we grilled out and made yummy chicken burgers....i modeled them after the ones at hula hut in austin and if you have never had a chicken burger with all these yummy toppings you need too....delicious!

after dinner, we set up our tent for camping out....

...and then we made smores!
if you didn't know, i freakin' love smores and usually eat more then my body weight in mallow/chocolate/graham goodness...and this night was no exception!

after smores and some games on the porch, we decided to check the weather bc it looked like it might rain, and sure enough this backyard camping date turned into a living room camping date!

i loved the creativity and thoughtfulness joey used to plan this date, and even though it didn't go exactly as planned, we still got to enjoy time with each other.

wonderful wednesday

on wednesday, joey got to take the day off :) he went to the dr. early so he could meet us at storytime and then a picnic lunch in southlake. we headed home and the boys took a long nap...followed by a snack..max ate his on the couch and watched some "office" while relaxing... afterwards, we took max to "let's jump" in keller! he and dad had such a great time!

this makes me laugh! at the bottom of the slide, max threw himself down and just started laughing and laughing so of course joey joined in! like son, like father i guess :)

on friday, april 9th my mom got to throw out the 1st pitch at the rangers game!

(she is president of the school board in keller and it was keller isd night)

after the pitch, we got to enjoy the game from the school board box...a great way to watch!

it was a really fun night...and since max enjoyed it so much, i'm sure it won't be our last rangers game this year!

the things kids say...

1) max is such a talker! last night at dinner, he was just chatting away and i looked at joey and said "he's never going to shut up!". am i surprised?!? not a bit, bc with 2 parents who like to talk, what can you expect?

the newest vocab is "pease" (please), "thats unny" (that is so funny) followed by a little fake laugh, and "mama" has now turned into i want/need/do it again/pay attention to me/etc....it's just really cute when he has a conversation with you bc you can tell by the look on his face that he knows exactly what he's saying.

2) and then there are my nephews....on easter sunday we were hanging out at their house and ian starts in "hey joey, there's a spider on your head.....imafoolish!" then logan "hey joey....there's a bug in your food.....imafoolish!". it takes us a minute to figure out what is going on and then we realize....imafoolish is really april fools! wow, its been a long time since i laughed that hard. and of course when we tried to explain that they were supposed to say "april fools!" they would not have it....why would we (as adults) know anything?!?

happy easter!

this year, more then ever, easter was about celebration! and boy, did we ever...

joey's school held an easter egg hunt for the staff kiddos so we decided this would be a good dress rehearsal for max...but once he got a couple of pieces of candy in his hands, he kinda forgot about the eggs. i think this is really funny bc he doesn't even know what candy is and he never got to eat the pieces he picked up!

one of the new things max does is go down the slide by himself...he loves it!

after church on sunday, we went to the other vanderveer's house in denton for lunch and an egg hunt...
