family tradition

9 years ago, i was on homecoming court...3 years ago, my brother tyler was on homecoming court...4 days ago, my sister amy was on homecoming court...even though joey doesn't think its normal that we were all able to be a part of this high school tradition, i am so proud of my rankin heritage! none of us actually won the crown, but we like to tell ourselves we each came in 2nd place :)

me, amy, and kacy

amy plays varsity volleyball and was just a little smelly at the football game!

sweet amy, we are so proud of you!

34 weeks

here's a photo of the belly at 34 weeks. i decided i should take at least a few bare belly pictures...
no complaints, except for the feeling that baby v is running out of room...i feel really stuffed and appear to grow everyday...at least it means baby v's arrival is getting close!

baby v's 2nd shower

last sunday, we had our 2nd shower for baby v. this one was hosted by my mom's good friend joanne and included many women who have been a part of my life since i was a baby. it was fun to see my mom get to catch up with her friends and to talk about how excited she is to meet her 1st grandbaby!

me, my mom, and joanne

jen, me, micah, and hannah--friends since we were in diapers :)

joey and i continue to feel so blessed and thankful for all of the people who have shown their love for baby v by celebrating with us!

49 days to go....WHAT?!?!?!?!?

okay, so you know those emails you can sign up for that give you baby information...well the one from babycenter today said "only 49 days to go!" WHAT?!?!?!?

I can't believe baby v's birthday is so close! I am so excited to meet this little person and introduce him/her to our family and friends.

Speaking of which.....all the grandparents have their names...not all of which are joey and i's favorites but we'll deal :)

  • my mom: g.g.
  • my stepdad scooter: pop
--joey and i wanted my mom to be mo-mo and scooter to be po-po, which may still happen--
  • my dad: bapa (pronounced baa paa)-named by my stepsisters son cade
  • my stepmom ellen: nanna (or does she spell it nana-i better find out)

  • joey's mom: ana
  • joey's dad: papaw
but the name i am most excited to hear baby v say one day....daddy! i cannot wait to watch joey be a daddy bc i know he is going to be the best...i love you babe!

32 week waddle

the count down continues...and this week brought some changes to my body.

on monday, towards the end of the school day, i started having some pretty bad cramping in my lower abdomen. i tried not to think much of it as i got ready to go home but by the time i got home, i felt the need to look up what could be the cause. all the books said that a call to the dr was in order so thats what i did. i knew that while i waited for the dr to call me back i needed to stay off my feet and take it easy and after about 1 hour, the cramping seemed to subside, only reoccuring when i got up and walked around. when the dr called later that afternoon, we were told just to keep an eye on the amount of "contractions" i was having and she encouraged me to be a couch potato for the rest of the day...joey and i were not worried but glad to know that this was normal and not a big deal.

well, tuesday morning rolls around and now the pain has moved to my upper inner thigh area...which is where the change to my body comes in. we had to make a walmart run and the pain was bad enough where i felt the need to walk with my legs spread apart...otherwise known as the pregnancy waddle. thats right, i was officially waddling...joey was doing his best not to laugh, but since i have been pregnant i have been saying that i will not do the pregnancy walk....you know it, hand on lower back, legs spread wide, and looking similar to a penguin....well, those hopes are lost!

i had a dr's appt today and all of these aches and pains are very normal and are just caused by baby v and the adjustments he/she is making to get ready for the big day. we praise God that He has blessed us with such a healthy pregnancy and if waddling is the worst of it, then i know i am a lucky girl!

baby v's 1st shower

last saturday, we had our 1st baby shower. now, i know some people don't really like showers and the attention being centered on them, but i love it and don't mind admitting it! plus, from what i've been told, i need to savor the attention because once baby v arrives, it will never be about me again!

here are a few pics of our precious friends and family....
thanks ladies, for being a part of this fun event!

oh, and i had to add this one....i guess my sisters got a little bored with all the baby talk!
