baby v's nursery: take 2

here are a few additions to baby v's nursery...
this is the theme of the room....we are making it "rock and roll" complete with a guitar and records! these letters are from scribblin' sisters and they just stick on the wall like tape....you can remove them easily too which is so much easier then trying to paint letters on the wall.

and here is the glider...it rocks and spins too and i have a feeling i will be doing lots of middle of the night feedings here, so good thing it is so comfy. it is from stacy's furniture and is red fabric with white polka dots...so cute!

there are still a few knick knacks and decorations i would like to find, but i am very happy with the nursery so far....just can't wait to show it to baby v!

ambiguous reactions

it seems that just in the last week, when people ask "when are you due?" or "how much longer do you have?" my answer of about 10 weeks is met with some ambiguous comments.

"wow, you'll never make it until then"
"mmmm, thats interesting"
"crazy"
all followed with a glance towards my belly with raised eyebrows.
what does this mean? yes, i know my belly has grown alot in the last few weeks, but i still feel relatively small in comparison to what i think i will look like as baby v's birthday approaches. i dont feel like i could pop at anytime, but with comments like these, i have to wonder if i look like i could......i am sure all preggos have dealt with these feelings at sometime, but all i know is that when i talk to pregnant people in the future these comments will not be on my list of small talk!
i need to remember though, that i have been really lucky in one department of pregnant life....
i have not had one stranger try to or touch my belly....hope this lucky streak can keep going for another 10 weeks!

30 weeks

here's a pic of the growing baby bump at 30 weeks....

last week, as we drove to our birth class, i told joey that we had about 10 weeks left until the baby came...he could hardly believe it! it seems like i've been pregnant for a long time but when the weeks get close to single digits, its a little freaky. both of us are so excited to meet baby v but we can't help but feel a little nervous as well.

could this be a glimpse into the future?

its no secret that our sweet nephew ian is all vanderveer in the looks category, but it seems the music gene didn't miss him either. on sunday, while spending time at joey's parents house, joey and ian jammed together and as i lovingly watched, i couldn't help but wonder if baby v and daddy might have future jam sessions just like this one!

baby v's nursery: take 1

colors: aqua and red

ease in finding these colors in baby items: slim to none

knowing someone who sews: priceless

about a month ago, my mom and i started the hunt for fabric for baby v's room. after trying every place we could think of without much success, my mom called one of her friends who recommended we try the quilting store in hurst on pipeline...what a great find! this store will now be my 1st stop anytime I need to buy fabric.
we found some great fabrics for baby v's room and last saturday spent the day working on the nursery....mom sewed, i helped, joey and scooter put furniture together...it was a good day.

and here are the results:
the curtains

the round crib :)

with the skirt we made from 4 different fabrics

and the blanket my mom designed

and one of the little accessories we will be using to make this room

"rock-a-bye baby" ready!

a plus side to frustration

as mentioned previously, our computer has something against blogger so i have to go to my moms to update our blog.....UNTIL NOW!

the plus side of being on the computer for 5 hours is when you get a new hard drive and all of the sudden you can go to websites previously hated by your computer....YEAH!

needless to say, the vanderveer blog might just get a little more interesting :)

frustration

i can come up with no better name for this post bc this is how i feel right now.....frustrated. after spending 5 hours on the phone with dell about our lame computer, they tell me there is nothing more they can do and that we need a new hard drive....(read with major sarcasm) well, thanks for solving the problem dell, next time could you not do it in such a timely manner?

uuuuuuuuuuuuugggggggggggggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

on a lighter note.....

baby v's nursery is about 1/2 complete and i will be posting pictures soon so don't forget to check back :)
